The opening of the spa season is a traditional social event organised every second weekend in May in honour of the reopening spa season. Part of the celebration is usually a mass in Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, gala concert and accompanying music and dance program in which students of Frederik Chopin Art School participate with the local brass band. The internationally renowned Frederyk Chopin Music Festival has been an integral part of cultural events in Marienbad for decades. This music festival brings many important performers and conductors from all over the world every year to Marienbad. It is info of he largest cultural holidays in the Czech Republic.

Other important event and celebration include liberation after World War II by the U.S.A. military.
